22 Strange Animals You Likely Didn’t Know Exist

I think it’s safe to say most of us don’t understand the variety of animal species that occupy the Earth today, and some even get amazed as they discover there’s an animal or species they’ve never heard of before. But really – of all the +1.3 million [1] known non-insect animal species that is said to live on Earth today, how can one be expected to know every single one of them? Now, from a different viewpoint, let’s take into account that this number only represents a tiny percentage (less or equal to 1%) of all animal species that ever lived!

Scientists themselves keep discovering new species every year and admit that modern science is not familiar with all existing animals. This allows for such exclusive and even weird unearthing of some of these selection collected in this post which is mostly inspired by imgur and reddit and here’s a selection of such unfamiliar creatures as a Star-Nosed Mole, Pink Fairy Armadillo, Dumbo Octopus, Aye-aye, The Maned Wolf and many more. Be warned – not all of them are ridiculously cute and fluffy!
