High School Recreates Graduation For Student Who Recently Woke Up From A Coma

Scott Dunn, a student of East Juniata High School in McAlisterville, Pennsylvania, was heartbroken when he woke up from a medically-induced coma and realized he had missed his high school graduation. His hospitalization was as a result of a car accident that occurred on May 22nd. Dunn was on sedatives for about a week, and when he woke up, he was sad to know he had missed the one ceremony he had planned for.

As a result, his school gave him a do-over. The graduation for the students of the High School, took place on May 25, according to ABC affiliate WHTM.

After the school’s principal, Benjamin Fausey, got word that Dunn was recovering and has been released from the hospital, he reached out to Dunn’s family a few days later and told them the school “wanted to do something special for him.”

That “something special” happened last week Tuesday, when more than half of Dunn’s classmates showed up to recreate the original commencement ceremony just for him, according to the school’s principal Benjamin Fausey.

The principal also told ABC News that all the students were excited to be in their graduation gowns and caps again with so much positive energy.
