Mentally weak – Does it seem like the world is always out to get you? Do you fight a daily uphill battle, with the wind in your face? Life is a rollercoaster, with good times and bad, but you may want to consider your emotional intelligence if it seems like you have more bad days than good. While mentally strong people are those who see the silver linings in most things, mentally weak individuals live with a rain cloud over their heads.

Mentally weak people have a baleful lifestyle or habit. The kind of lifestyle that dissuades and deters them from managing their behaviors, thought processes, and emotions in ways that will jump-start them for success.
Check out these things that mentally weak people do so that you don’t become one of them. If anything, you want to be the opposite – Mentally strong.
1. Mentally Weak People Enwrap In Self-Pity.
“Self-pity is easily the most destructive of the non-pharmaceutical narcotics; it is addictive, gives momentary pleasure and separates the victim from reality.” ― John Gardner
They loll around feeling sorry about their circumstances or situations or even about the kind of treatment they receive from others. They don’t assume responsibility for roles or actions they play in their life nor do they understand that life isn’t a bed of roses. C’mon guys, always embrace your situation(s) and think of the way forward.
2. They Give Away Their Authority.
“It all begins and ends in your mind. What you give power to, has power over you.” ― Leon Brown
They give their authority away hence letting themselves be controlled by others, and they give someone else power over them. They do not understand that they are in control (or at least should be in control) of their own emotions or have a choice in how they respond to others or their situations.
3. They Avoid Change.
“Change will not come if we wait for some other person, or if we wait for some other time. We are the ones we’ve been waiting for. We are the change that we seek.” ― Barack Obama
Change is necessary for growth. Unfortunately, the unknown can be scary and mentally weak people shy away from everything they don’t know. They avoid change by all means necessary and welcome negativity. These set of people aren’t willing to adjust nor do they understand that change is inevitable and the only thing that’s constant. Above all, they have zero confidence in their power to adjust.
4. They Complain And Worry….. A Lot!
“Worry is a waste of energy. It can’t change the past, It can’t control the future, It only makes today miserable.” ― Rick Warren
You’ll always hear a mentally weak person complain over spilled milk or lost battles. They focus their energy on what they can’t control in their lives. It’s okay to worry or complain a little when something bad or annoying happens, but when it gets a little too much after a while, people tend to tune you out. Weak individuals don’t complain as a quick reaction, they complain, for the sake of complaining.
5. They Try To Please Everyone.
“You can please some of the people all of the time, you can please all of the people some of the time, but you can’t please all of the people all of the time.” ― John Lydgate
You can’t possibly please everyone. It is nearly impossible. These people try everything possible to be in the good book of others, putting the desires and needs of others above theirs. They’re afraid to refuse anyone or voice out when necessary. They don’t make any efforts to be fair in their dealings, and can’t stand other people being mad at them if they’re unable to please them.
6. They Are Afraid Of Taking Calculated Risks.
“If you don’t take risks, you’ll have a wasted soul.” ― Drew Barrymore
Mentally weak people take thoughtless and unnecessary risks. They can’t take calculated risks. They don’t spend time analyzing a risk or cost benefits before deciding on what to do, and they’re never fully informed of the downside risk before they take action.
7. They Dwell On The Past.
“Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, today is a gift of God, which is why we call it the present.” ― Bil Keane
Instead of focusing on what they have now, they think about what they had. These people are never happy with their life because they dwell on yesterday.
8. They Make The Same Mistakes Over And Over.
“It was one thing to make a mistake; it was another thing to keep making it.” ― Jodi Picoult
Everyone makes mistakes, but strong people see these as opportunities for success. Weak people, on the other hand, continue making the same mistakes over and over again. They say a good sign of insanity, is doing the same thing over and over while expecting different results. This is definitely, a sign of weakness. They don’t accept responsibility for their behavior or learn from their past mistakes and as a result, they keep making those mistakes over and over. This, in turn, impedes their ability to move on or make better future decisions.
9. They Are Saddened By Other People’s Success.
“Anger, resentment, and jealousy doesn’t change the heart of others– it only changes yours.” ― Shannon L. Alder
Mentally weak people can’t admire and acknowledge other people’s success. They become envious and feel everyone is taking advantage of them. They don’t understand that success comes with ample efforts, and they are never willing to put in the efforts to succeed.
10. They Give Up After The First Failure.
“Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts.” ― Winston Churchill
While it’s not smart to continue making the same mistakes, you’ll never succeed when you give up too soon. Weak people give up after one or two attempts, and sometimes, success doesn’t happen until after the fifth or sixth or even the tenth try. If you don’t get it right the first time, restrategize and attack again from a different angle.

11. They Fear Being Alone.
“I think it’s good for a person to spend time alone. It gives them an opportunity to discover who they are and to figure out why they are always alone.” ― Amy Sedaris
Mentally weak people can’t stand being alone and they are afraid of silence. They dread being alone with their thoughts and can’t put their timeouts to good use. They don’t fancy their own company and are dependent on others for friendship and a good time all the time.
12. They Feel the World Owes Them Something.
“Don’t go around saying the world owes you a living. The world owes you nothing. It was here first.” ― Mark Twain
Mentally weak people feel entitled to all the good things in life. They are born with a mentality that others would take care of them or that the world must give them something. They almost never look for opportunities based on their own merits.
13. They Always Expect Instant Gratification.
“Self-discipline is often disguised as short-term pain, which often leads to long-term gains. The mistake many of us make is the need and want for short-term gains (immediate gratification), which often leads to long-term pain.” ― Charles F. Glassman
Whether they are working on improving their lifestyle or starting something entirely new, mentally weak people expect instant gratification. They don’t apply their knowledge, skills and time to the best of their ability and don’t understand that real change takes time.
14. They Love To Play The Blame Game.
“Everyone loves a witch hunt as long as it’s someone else’s witch being hunted.” ― Walter Kirn
Mentally weak people blame everyone but themselves. They blame their childhood peers for their own lack of self-esteem or their parents for being overbearing. Sometimes, it is easier to blame someone else.
15. They Waste Time Procrastinating.
“To think too long about doing a thing often becomes its undoing.” ― Eva Young
Many people occasionally leave for tomorrow the things that can be done today, but weak people do it often. Waiting for the last minute to handle an important issue may be fear or a lack of confidence.
16. They Think They’re Always Right.
“There is a way of being wrong which is also sometimes necessarily right.” ― Edward Abbey
Being right sometimes is good but, believing you are always right is a sign of weakness. No one knows everything and disregarding that fact is limiting.
17. They React Instead Of Reply.
When a situation occurs, these people may not know how to acknowledge their feelings or respond appropriately. Instead, they react. These are the same people who others classify as dramatic.
18. They Give Up Too Quickly.
“There is no failure except in no longer trying.” ― Elbert Hubbard
While it’s not smart to continue making the same mistakes, you’ll never succeed when you give up too soon. Weak people give up after one or two attempts, but sometimes success doesn’t happen until after the fifth or even the seventh try.
19. They Hide Their True Identity.
“It is better to be hated for what you are than to be loved for what you are not.” ― André Gide
Your quirks are what make you special, but weak people fail to see this. Instead of accepting who they are and letting that shine, they hide or try to blend in with the crowd. These people lose their individuality.
20. They Have A Hard Time Accepting Constructive Criticism.
“With no positivity, there is no hope; with no negativity, there is no improvement.” ― Criss Jami
Criticism is important for you to see where you can do something better. Weak people see it as a reminder that they did something wrong.
A little mindfulness can go a long way. Everyone has weaknesses, and acknowledging the ones inside of you will be the first step in becoming mentally strong.
